Infectious Disease Policy - November 29, 2022

Given current data in Pima County, the community transmission rate is now "high." The Kol Ami Medical Advisory Task Force is strongly recommending that everyone wear KN-95 masks when inside at events and services. The clergy will be wearing masks when not on the bima.

We ask that those who are exhibiting any symptoms of an infectious illness, including COVID-like illness, to please stay home and enjoy our programs virtually.
 
We ask that anyone who has tested positive for COVID should isolate at home and wear a mask in accordance with CDC guidelines. We also ask that anyone who has been exposed to COVID should wear a high-quality (KN-95) mask if they come to Kol Ami during the 10 days after exposure, or they may choose to stay home and enjoy our programs virtually.

Infectious Disease Policy - September 11, 2022

Based on current CDC guidelines, Kol Ami has removed COVID related restrictions to events and services, both indoors and outdoors, independent of vaccination status. Kol Ami continues to encourage all eligible members to be fully vaccinated and boosted, and members who wish to remain masked in order to protect themselves are encouraged to do so. COVID Task Force Protocols 7/15/2022

The Covid Task Force has been meeting to provide guidance and develop protocols to balance the needs of our congregants while ensuring the safety and well-being of our community, clergy, and staff. The task force has used guidelines from the CDC and Pima County Health Department to develop these procedures. Our decisions are made with the best intentions to keep everyone safe.
 
Current Covid Protocols for ages 12 and older:
These protocols are applicable for all members, visitors, and staff who enter either of our synagogue buildings/campuses for worship, meetings, and classes.
Members and guests (vaccine eligible) who enter our buildings will be required to show proof of vaccination or have results of a negative PCR test (excluding home or self test) taken within 72 hours of entrance.
Masks will be optional, however we encourage you to have a mask with you.  In respect to others who continue to wear masks, we ask you that you consider wearing a mask if you are seated close to someone who is wearing a mask.
In the Rubin Family Sanctuary, both side pew areas will be reserved for people who want to be masked, and we will continue to block off every other row so people can maintain social distance.
We will no longer require pre-registration for worship services and classes.  However, if you have not provided a vaccination card to Kol Ami, we will ask to see your card when you enter the building, and keep it on file for admittance in the future.
 
Kol Ami Religious School and Strauss ECE COVID Protocols
  • All students over the age of 2 years are encouraged to wear a mask over their nose and mouth.
  • All students 12 years old and older must be vaccinated
  • We strongly recommend that students ages of 5-11 are vaccinated or take regular COVID tests. However, we are not requiring either of these at this time for this age group.
 
Food service:
Onegs and kiddush lunches will be held in the Sy Juster Social Hall. We will no longer require individually wrapped items. Challah will continue to be pre-cut and served with tongs.
 
Covid 19 exposure:
According to the CDC, fully vaccinated people who have come into close contact with someone with COVID-19 should be tested to check for infection 5-7 days after their last exposure.  Close contact means being within 6 feet for greater than 15 minutes. We will be asking any staff member who was in close contact to be tested before returning to work.
Our request to you: If you are to test positive for COVID after attending a Kol Ami event, please contact Kol Ami Executive Director, Donna Beyer (donna@katucson.org). This will allow us to contact anyone that was near you and make sure they are safe. Thank you in advance.
The CDC also recommends that anyone with any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 get tested, regardless of vaccination status or prior infection. If you get tested because you have symptoms or were potentially exposed to the virus, you should stay away from others pending test results and follow the advice of your health care provider or a public health professional.
