Fiscal Year 2023-2024 (FY24) Membership Commitment

MEMBERSHIP COMMITMENT

Welcome, and thank you for considering joining Kol Ami. Your membership is not just a formality, but a important step towards our community's growth and vitality. Once you have completed your application, it will be forwarded for review by the Executive Director, you will then be contacted for additional information if needed.

Kol Ami is proud and humbled to be the largest Jewish congregation in Southern Arizona. Our responsibility is to maintain the highest standards of spiritual, educational, and communal support for the 550 families that call us home.

Your financial support ensures that we can remain a Home of Joyful Home of Judaism for all, where every family, regardless of financial capability, can belong. Your commitment supports a wide range of programs and initiatives:
  • Spiritual and life cycle support
  • Education for over 270 children who benefit from our Jewish and Early Childhood Education programs.
  • The blessing of a safe, secure space to worship and learn together.
  • Community Services: Our Tikkun Olam initiatives, vibrant worship, dynamic music programs, thoughtful adult learning, and social justice outreach.
  • Inclusivity: We ensure every family finds a place with us.

Please use this Giving Guide to determine your pledge based on your ability, values, and the spirit of maintaining our Jewish home. Our collective contributions ensure our doors remain open to all, our programs flourish, and our community grows stronger together.
  • Up to $2,657 – Foundation (Supplementing):  Any contribution up to $221 per family per month helps us remain operationally viable and is appreciated in the spirit that it is given, or $1,318 is the recommended contribution for winter visitors.
  •
  • $2,658 - $4,999 Benefactor (Sustaining): This sustains all operational and infrastructure costs per household.
  •
  • $5,000+ Pillars (Supporting): This helps the congregation ensure that no member is turned away and supports future growth and enhanced programming. As a token of appreciation, Pillars have access to exclusive Pillar events and benefits.

The actual annual cost to provide you with congregational services and programs amounts to approximately $2,657 per household. Many members will commit to that full amount and more, which allows us to sustain membership for everyone regardless of the amount they are able to commit.

Regardless of financial constraints, all prospective members are invited to apply for membership.

All members receive the following benefits:
  • Relationship with clergy for spiritual counseling and life cycle events
  • High Holy Day admission for your household
  • Eligibility for Kol Ami Religious School and fulfillment of B’nei Mitzvah education & beyond
  • Opportunities for embracing new relationships and spiritual experiences
  • Kol Ami is a diverse congregation whose members range from young families with children to seniors living on fixed incomes. The annual membership commitment is based on the cost of operating the synagogue factoring in the number of members to establish a fair estimate of the cost per member. All members are entitled to equal participation; however, not all members can equally contribute financially.

Our Pillars of Kol Ami was established to provide economic security to Kol Ami. Funds raised through the Pillars Program are used to make up the shortfall in membership commitments resulting from those members who are not able to give at the recommended commitment amount.

We invite you to join the Pillars of Kol Ami to ensure our financial security and to sustain our vision of a “Home of Joyful Judaism for All.” As we learn in the Talmud, “All Jews are responsible for one another.” (Sh’vu’ot 39a) As a Jewish community and congregation, our lives are intertwined whereby each of us contributes time, money, or energy to make the whole greater.

For members who would like to give above the actual annual cost of $2,550 per year, but not at the Pillar level, we invite you to become a Benefactor. Recognition of Benefactor status will be listed on the Kol Ami website and at High Holiday services, always with the option of anonymity.

    Pillars Levels of Support:

  • Builder $5,000+
  • Designer $9,000+
  • Architect $12,000+
  • Chai $18,000+
For those participating in the Pillars of Kol Ami Program, we offer some additional membership benefits, which are as follows:
