Shalom! Welcome to the transitional site for Kol Ami. Thank you for your patience as we build our site!

Registration Suspended

The Covid Response Task Force has been meeting to provide guidance and develop protocols to balance the needs of our congregants while ensuring the safety and well-being of our community, clergy, and staff.

At the most recent meeting, last Friday, March 11th, the committee made a number of changes to align with the new information from the CDC and the Pima County Health Department. Our decisions are made with the best intentions to keep everyone safe.

Highlights of changes effective Monday, March 14th:

  • No registration for worship services
    • We have compiled a list of everyone who has shown their vaccination card to us over the past year. When you come to worship services, the person at the door will have a list of those people. In case we missed you, we would suggest bringing a photo of your card.
  • Masks are optional.
    • However, we would like to be respectful to those in our community that may choose to or have a medical necessity that requires them to wear their masks. So, if you sit down next to someone or enter into a conversation with someone wearing a mask, we would encourage you to put yours on to respect them. For this reason, we would still suggest bringing a mask and keeping it in your pocket or bag.
  • Vaccinations or negative COVID tests are still required.
    • Members and guests (vaccine eligible - over age 5*) who enter the Kol Ami campuses are required to show proof of vaccination or show a negative COVID test (excluding home or self tests) taken within 72 hours of the event you are attending.
  • Increasing capacity in rooms.
    • We will be raising the capacity of our physical gathering places. In the Rubin Family Sanctuary, we will no longer be marking off every other pew in the middle sections, but the side sections will be marked off to allow space for greater social distancing.
  • Most food will no longer be served to you.
    • Pre-packaged food will no longer be required. Challah will still be pre-cut and handed to you by a gloved congregant or staff person, but oneg food (cookies, etc.) will be self serve using tongs. Hand sanitizer will be placed near by for use before or after serving yourself.
  • Religious School protocol is staying the same.
    • As we near the end of the religious school academic year, we will not be changing the COVID protocol. We will continually evaluate for the upcoming fall semester.

*The Religious School still only requires vaccinations for those over age 12.
